The Honeywell HTF7000 is a turbofan family used by several large-cabin business jets. Applications include the Bombardier Challenger 300 and 350, Gulfstream G280, Citation Longitude, and Embraer Legacy 450/500 and Praetor 500/600. Honeywell places the family in the approximately 6,500–7,500-pound thrust class.[1]

Propulsion technology

The engine incorporates a wide-chord fan, refined compressor airfoils and an effusion-cooled low-emissions combustor. High-pressure turbine blades use advanced cooling, and a dual-channel full-authority digital engine control manages operation. The propulsion system can be supplied with a complete nacelle and thrust reverser, extending the engine package beyond the gas turbine itself.[2]

Installation characteristics

Honeywell's representative specifications list a 34.2-inch fan, a bypass ratio of 4.2 and a dry weight of 1,364 pounds. Those dimensions place the engine between the smaller turbofans used by very light jets and the much larger engines developed for long-range business aircraft. Its application list spans several competing airframe manufacturers and both original and improved aircraft families.[1]

Inspection and access

The HTF7000 was designed for on-condition maintenance. Multiple access panels and thirty-nine borescope ports allow inspection around the gas path. Many line-replaceable components can be changed using ordinary hand tools, with Honeywell describing an average replacement time of twenty minutes or less without shimming, rigging or adjustment.[2]

Operational support

The family supports both on-condition and fixed-interval maintenance programmes. This allows engine support to be organised around the operator's maintenance approach while retaining access to the manufacturer's service network. The aircraft applications demonstrate the engine's role in the business-jet market where range, speed, cabin size and predictable aircraft availability all affect the value of the propulsion installation.[1]
