Origins
European Cargo began flying in April 2020 during the urgent international movement of personal protective equipment. A340 freighters
The Airbus A340-600 was designed as a passenger airliner rather than a factory freighter. European Cargo removed passenger interiors and adapted aircraft to carry lightweight, high-volume freight on the main deck. Later aircraft received passenger-to-freighter modifications with a large cargo door.
The four-engine A340 offered long range and abundant cabin volume at a relatively low acquisition cost, although it could not match the payload efficiency or global handling standardisation of purpose-built 777 or 747 freighters. The JetPhotos image shows G-ECLB in European Cargo colours.
Network
